This
set has been in my collection since 1998. The set comes with TM
TM Army Manual, first issue TM Gear and Equipment flyer, one of
a kind variation typed boot removal instructions, first issue rank
insignia (without Printed in U.S.A). ID ribbons and a Lone Ranger
comic. The box is absolutely a pristine museum quality example of
a TM TM TM soldier box. It is simply flawless. It is dated 7/64
and comes with a white box bottom
The
typed boot removal instructions are very interesting for two reasons.
First, they are blue in color indicating that they were likely mimeographed
by Hasbro. Second, these instructions are likely among the earliest
issued by Hasbro because they are quite a bit smaller than other
early issue "typed" instructions and they stop at the
sentence "Pull down and away and boot will slide off foot."
Other early issue "typed" instructions continue with the
following two sentences: "In order to protect the leg member
from an extreme pull, it is normal for the foot to come out of the
leg. It is easily re-inserted by pushing the foot on the leg."
It is likely that Hasbro decided to add to the instructions after
a limited release of boxed figures. I have one other set of instructions
like this that came from the same childhood collection. As far as
I know, these two instruction sheets are the only ones in existence.
The
figure is first issue with thick eyebrows, eyeliner, beefy hands,
baby feet and slotted shoulders. It is in store stock condition.
The fatigues are also in store stock condition and are tagged GI
Joe TM Hasbro Japan. The set also comes with soft first issue brown
rubber boots stamped Hong Kong on the heels.
